Now I am reading 'Much Ado about Nothing' and I love it. It is hilarious!
Well if you ask me who is my favorite character till now, I will say Beatrice and Benedick. I love their character and how they always quarrel. I especially love Beatrice's sharp tongue. And these two relationship is very interesting.

I have written a letter to Shylock to make sure I still remember what Merchant of Venice was like. Because I love that play.

Dear
Shylock,
Hello Shylock. I really was interested in
your attitude towards everyone. I dare to explain you my opinion about you. I
understand that almost everyone didn’t care or understood you in Venice. Yes,
it is because you are Jewish and Venice appreciates Christians. I feel bad
about this situation and I am also here to tell you that you are not always
wrong.
I still have to accept that you were not right
in every single situation as you think. Sometimes you were wrong. But I
understand this because humans make mistakes. It was very disapproving when you
cursed Antonio just because he invited you to his dinner party. I know it is
not very exciting to go to a Christian’s house for a dinner. But it was a bit
rude of you. You could have explained to Antonio without showing your private
feelings about Antonio. That could have hurt Antonio’s feelings. And there are
another deeds you did which was wrong. Getting upset and awful when your
daughter got all your jewels and treasure with her. This could not have been
wrong and so inhuman if you were upset because your daughter just escaped from
your house. You were upset because your daughter also has your jewels and your
treasure. Not because ‘she’ escaped. I was quite shock when you behaved like
that.
But I also think you did something good.
Sometimes I felt sorry about how other venetians behaved in front of you. Just
because you are a Jew. When Antonio was
visiting your house because he needed money for his friend Basanio, he didn’t
acted civilized at all. He kept on cursing you and spitting on you. It was
appropriate for you to defend yourself. I do not blame you for cursing back. It
is not that Christians are more great and well than Jews. Also when you met
lady Portia in the court. It is not that what Portia did was wrong. What you
told and behaved in front of Portia is not appropriate. You could have been
more civilized. Portia said the right thing, just that she was trying to
protect a Christian. And that is not the right thing to do. You were right and
true. You were going to have what you deserve and what you promised to have.
You were being very fair and rightful. I understand that Basanio and Portia
were being to over protective to Antonio just because he was a Christian. I
really felt bad for you at that part. That was the most unfair part in the
play.
I think you could have behaved a lot better
when you got your result in the court. You should have stood up, with manners
and could have gone. You actually wanted what you wrote in the bond. A flesh
from Antonio’s bond, not his blood nor his death. You can’t just sit there on
the floor of the court and cry until you are finished. I found that a bit
disturbing and not right. You can’t do anything because it all makes sense and
the judge is right. I can’t say anything against it because it is true and
fair.
Overall, I think you were more disapproving
then being appreciated. You could have behaved more civilized and learnt then
just shouting and showing rage of anger. I think I could quite understand how
Christian thinks Jews are rough and don’t have manners. Because you never
actually behaved totally civilized. Christians were more civilized than how you
were. I know that it is very unfair for you because you are staying in Venice,
which is full of Christian people. So not everything is going to be fair. But I
hoped you could have acted better than Christian people.
Sincerely,
Anne, Heewon Chang
